Fresh cherries star in this delicious gluten-free fruit crisp. Topped with a buttery crumble, you will love the hint of almond flavoring!
1 cup fresh cherries, washed and pitted
1/4 teaspoon almond blend extract
1/2 cup gluten-free almond blend flour
1/2 cup gluten-free old-fashioned oats
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Dash of ground nutmeg
6 Tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- Preheat oven to 350° F.
- Divide cherries and place in two ramekins. Sprinkle 1/8 teaspoon of almond extract over cherries and set aside.
- Whisk together the gluten-free flour blend, oatmeal, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a small bowl. Using a fork, cut in the butter until soft crumbles form. Divide crumble mixture between the two ramekins.
- Bake for 30 minutes or until topping is brown and cherries are bubbly.
- Remove from oven and cool 15 minutes before serving.
Delicious served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
In a pinch, you can use frozen cherries. However, using fresh takes this simple dessert to a whole new level of yumminess!
