There is nothing like a cup of easy homemade hot chocolate to help warm you on a cold winter day. It takes just a few minutes to whip up this decadent drink.
One of my favorite things to do on a cold winter afternoon is snuggle on the couch under a warm quilt with a good book and a cup of hot cocoa. Homemade whipped cream adds extra creaminess to this delicious treat.
Is it hot chocolate or hot cocoa? While either name is acceptable in the United States, there is a difference. Hot cocoa is made from cocoa powder. Made with milk or water, hot chocolate is made with shaved bits of chocolate making it richer and less sweet than its cousin.
I created my hot chocolate recipe using cocoa powder, which is a staple in my pantry. I am a dark chocolate lover and my favorite chocolate to use is Hershey’s Special Dark Cocoa Powder. Talk about chocolate heaven! If you do not like dark chocolate no biggie, just use your favorite cocoa powder.
